My Rx Protocol
I take most of the pills at night since pills often make me feel sick to my stomach.
- Children's vitamins with iron (Exchange Select similar to Flinestones): 1 tablet a day. I needed vitamins with iron and the prenatals at my store didn't have them so instead of waiting a few weeks for them to arrive by mail, I just got children's vitamins. I really don't like taking pills so try to get as many chewable ones as I can.
- CoQ10 (Doctor's Best): 1 tablet once a day (100 mg each). Improves egg quality and is recommend for women with RPL.
- Fish Oil (Sundown Naturals): 1 gel cap twice a day (1200 mg each). Reduces the risk of miscarriage.
- Folate (Bluebonnet): 1 tablet once a day (400 mcg): Many people can't metabolise folic acid, so folate is a much better choice.
- Low Dose Aspirin (Bayer): 1 tablet once a day (81 mg each). Blood thinner. Clots can cause miscarriages.
- Magnesium Oil (Life-Pro): 2 sprays in the morning and 2 at night. Low magnesium levels have been associated with miscarriages.
- Progesterone cream (Emerita): 1/8 of a teaspoon twice a day (10 mg each). Helps lengthen your luteal phase. A short luteal phase can cause miscarriages.
- Selenium (Zhou Nutrition): 1 gel cap once a day (200 mcg each). Research shows that not having enough selenium can cause miscarriages.
- Vitamin B6 (Exchange Select, here are some similar brands): half a tablet once a day (100 mg for each whole tablet). Prevents miscarriage and increases fertility.
- Vitamin D3 (NatureWise): 1 gel cap once a day (5,000 IU each). About 50% of adults are Vitamin D3 deficient and this is thought to be a factor in miscarriages.
- Wobenzym N (Garden of Life): 3 tablets in the morning and 4 tablets at night. Anti-inflammatory. Said to work similarly to prednisolone (prednisone), IVIG, and intralipids except you don't need a prescription.
After ovulation
- Prednisolone: 4 tablets twice a day for 5 days (5 mg each). Prescription needed. Reduces inflammation, which can cause miscarriage. Easier for the body to break down than prednisone.
After confirmed pregnancy
- IVIG: every 3 weeks (week 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, and 18). I did one round with 500 ml (25 gr) and then five rounds with 300 ml (15 gr). Prescription needed. Doctors aren't exactly sure how it works but it decreases NK cells.
- Intralipids: one round of 400 ml (10 gr) at 21 weeks. Works similarly to IVIG by decreasing NK cells. Some doctors favor intralipids since they are cheaper, not a blood product, and have shown to be just as effective as IVIG. Other doctors say that IVIG is better when you know that NK cells are the cause of miscarriages.
